And the Champion is…
Well, well, we have certainly come a long way from so many teams with a myriad of story ideas down to our Top 10. Following that we had a grueling production period where teams dedicated 3 weeks of their precious holidays to animating.
After all that effort, hard work, sweat, tears, you know what I am getting at, we’re down to this very day…
Crowning the champion!
The champion team is decided by judges who take up 50% of the score and also public voting, amassing the other 50%.
Kicking off the Total Defence Day celebrations were some performances to lighten the mood, followed by an opening address by Mr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Defence.

Then came the highlight of the show, the result announcement. All 10 teams were called to the stage and had their animations played one more time. The amount of anticipation and tension radiating in the room was quite hard to miss!

It started with giving thanks to the 7 teams that have made it this far before we moved on to award REVEILLE! of Kent Ridge Secondary School with the 2nd runner up position.
Now it was down to 2 and the auditorium was quiet with anticipation as the remaining two teams, Hungry Monsters (Dunman High School) and Dreamation (School of Science and Technology, Singapore), stood forward.
Host for the night, Power98′s DJ JK lightened the tense atmosphere with some quick questions for the teams.

The champion was announced through the giant screen at the back of the stage. The result announcement felt even more nerve-wrecking as the screen flitted to and fro the two teams and finally landed on…..
Hungry Monsters!
Congratulations to Hungry Monsters for winning the Champion spot and the audience also gave a round of applause to Dreamation for securing the 1st runner-up position.
The members of Hungry Monsters mentioned that they were still in shock and too elated over winning to have any thoughts come to mind about the win.

Even though they were swarmed with attention after they exited the stage, we did manage to grab a quick interview with them and that will be up soon. You can check our Facebook Page to be notified once that interview and video feature of the event is up!
The prize giving for the night didn’t just stop there as iSmacked was awarded the Social Media Award for their active sharing and spreading of N.E.mation! through online platforms!

You can find their Facebook page here.
It was truly a day of prize giving and result announcements as aside from the teams, we also announced the winning N.E.mation! 6 Ambassador that will be flying to USA with the winning team!
It was down to three, Marcus, James and Sarah and you had seen their extensive coverage about the production period on our blog. After much deliberation, the appointed ambassador is….

Congratulations once again and a big thank you to everyone who had taken part in this be it as a student, ambassador, or behind-the-scenes instructors! Though not everyone can clinch the top position, making it this far is already an achievement in it’s own, this goes for teams and the ambassadors! All the memories and experiences that you have gained, along with friends you have made will be something you can keep for a long time to come.

With this N.E.mation! 6 is a wrap but don’t go anywhere, we have more news and information coming up soon!
Reflections …
Hello all!
It’s the last 2+ days left for voting and everybody is crazily trying to garner more votes. Welllll, in my opinion, there’s nothing bad about it but there is another important thing to do though. And that is to reflect on oneself. So, here we are, reflecting on our animation clip and together with everything else. I mean as proud as we are of our clip, there is still room for improvement right?
Reflection on animation clip
Firstly, maybe it could be a tad less, simpler. I’m not saying simple isn’t good but maybe there could have been more animation, in terms of transition, rather than just a simple fade. Because initially, we did think hard of how to transit, etc. Father looks at National Service sign and it transits to the Boyfriend’s checklist. Plus we aren’t skilled enough to make full use of the animation software.

Secondly, we know it’s going to be on television on everything, and that’s probably why the watercolour texture was not very obvious, losing the whole point of why watercolour was used. What I thought we could try was watercolour without the outline and background. Because the essence of watercolour is this fleeting feeling. With the outline and background it seems grounded and more like poster colour rather. We know our instructors’ concerns was the patchiness but we think that gives the dynamic feeling to watercolour. That’s why initially we wanted a simple wash for our backgrounds.
This is an example we found online. We thought it was quite cool
Thirdly, maybe we could have edited the dialogue / add more of it. The transitions happen really fast and the audience might not be able to catch what’s going on without proper explanation. That’s just a thought though.
Reflection on other stuff
We could’ve bonded more with other teams than just sticking to Hungry Monsters cause we’re from the same school. The thing is, we are like in J1 while the rest were in their Secondary stages, so there was this difference in wavelength that we could not overcome. Then again, no excuses, hence this is under our reflection list.
We didn’t spend alot of time getting to know more about our wonderful instructor Serene D: She was so busy all the time and we really didn’t want to drag her down with our nonsense.
And yupyup, that’s all we have. We really enjoyed the whole N.E.Mation process and it’s something we probably won’t forget in our entire lifetime. Rememmmbeeerrr, VOTE FOR US! WE ARE EATYOUUP (C3) FROM DUNMAN HIGH SCHOOL! ^^
omnomnomnom,
EATYOUUP
P.S: Here’s another clip we thought was interesting.
VOTE FOR JELVETICA!!!! And other things.
I know voting’s ending soon and this is a little late but remember to vote for us if you haven’t!
Again, there are FOUR ways you can vote for us, that means 4 votes PER person!! (Because some people still don’t understand how this works) Through web, mobile web (that means you need 3G), SMS and Facebook.
Now, this would probably be our final post before the results are announced. We’d like to thank so so so many people who helped us during the three weeks, this goes in no particular order.
Shiling, our wonderful (kinda hahaha) trainer!!! Hello hello, we know you’re missing us after seeing our pretty faces (almost) everyday for three weeks. Thanks so much for dealing with our nonsense every single day but we made those three weeks a whole lot more fun right! If, or when, we go to USA, we’ll buy back LOADS of things for you okay! If not, you can still remember us with the pooh bear, it’s so cute. (If you think “like me” then I have no comment, hahaha.) And please, that stupid rumour you told us is so ridiculous okay!
Jamie, our other amazing trainer!
I know you spent most of your time in our tent during the three weeks and you tolerated much more of our crap than Shiling but you’re still alive. So it’s all good!! You must be missing us too right, we made your life that much more entertaining and fun in three weeks. I’m sorry if we were too noisy for you when you were doing your report but EVERYONE knows that St. Marg’s girls are noisy hehehe. We’ll buy back stuff for you too if/when we go to USA but you still have your piglet!
Gina, I don’t know how I should refer to you. You’ve been a great help! Right from the start, you helped us to draw, paint, cut, scrape. You even brought things for us to eat! Man, I don’t know how to thank you but I don’t think we’d be as productive as we were if you weren’t there.
Rebekah, becky! I know things have been complicated right from the start, before we even got into top 40 but you’ve been there either physically or virtually to support us every step of the way. Thank you so much becks, for everything that you’ve done for us and bought for us on your way here.
I feel like I need to thank smoochiezz too, although this may be a tad too far, but oh well. We are in no way affiliated to them at all. Smoochiezz had a flea outside the NYP auditorium, selling nail polishes for a week. This may be a little shocking to all of you but I (Daphne) bought around 8, EIGHT, bottles in around three or four days.
N.E.mation! 6 – A Tip To Get More Votes
Hi Folks,
Since N.E.mation! 6 public voting started 2 weeks ago on the 18 Jan 2012 … I’m betting that all of you have been canvassing for votes like crazy (probably pestering your relatives & friends until they went crazy or voted on the spot), right?
Have you already done all you can to gather your votes? Did you miss anyone?
With less than 7 days to go before voting ends, lets take a look at the effort each Team has put in during the past week (based on publicly available data on their own NE6 Fan Page).
Efforts So Far
Here are the stats from 9 of the 10 NE6 teams (I still cannot find Jelvetica’s Fan Page) and I ranked them based on the number of Conversation they generated over the past 7 days (you know it by the “talking about this” number on your Team’s Page).
iSmacked Fan Page
162 Fans
37 Conversations in the Past Week
Dreamation Fan Page
229 Fans
20 Conversations in the Past Week
Reveille Fan Page
168 Fans
14 Conversations in the Past Week
FERD Fan Page
101 Fans
12 Conversations in the Past Week
Eatyouup Fan Page
145 Fans
6 Conversations in the Past Week
Hungry Monsters Fan Page
138 Fans
6 Conversations in the Past Week
Viva Fan Page
118 Fans
5 Conversations in the Past Week
S.S.S.A Fan Page
223 Fans
2 Conversations in the Past Week
Asian Keedz Fan Page
24 Fans
0 Conversations in the Past Week
Why do I rank the effort based on Conversation and not Fans?
Well, that’s because fans can vote once but conversation has more reach and potential gather much more votes for you.
Based on the above data, posting on iSmacked Fan Page very likely reached much more people on Facebook than any other team for the past 7 days.
So is that bad news for the other teams? Well, not really.
The good news is that I know many of you (like myself) are sharing the voting app on NEmation Facebook Page directly.
Due to the concerted effort, N.E.mation Facebook Page gained over 2000 new fans (likes) since voting started and have 1289 active conversation (likes/mentions/shares etc) in the past 7 days.
Can you do the same for your Team’s Fan Page, get the sharing to go viral and get more votes?
A Tip To Get More Votes
Of course and here is how you do it:
1) Write a post on your Team’s Fan Page to canvass for votes, remember to add a link to http://nemation.sg/ and thank the reader for their time and vote. And ask them to share it with their friends too.
2) Share the post on your timeline, wall (if you are not using timeline), other pages you may have or even private message your friends. Remember to ask them to Vote for you AND Share the post with their friends too.
Note that if you are writing such a post on NEmation Facebook Page, there is no option to share, it can only be ‘liked’ so it’s not as effective as you cannot personalize with a message of your own (and besides, I think majority of those 6000+ fans have already voted).
So what are you waiting for … get going and start canvassing for more votes … it ain’t over till 7 Feb 2012.
Every vote counts and everyone can only vote once so be the first to ask!!
Good Luck!!
Cheers,
James

STOP-MO PROMOTIONAL VIDEO! ^^
Hello all!
It’s Xin Yi from EATYOUUP here. Anyways, it’s been approximately 2 weeks since voting has started and if have yet to cast your wise decisions on any of the 4 platforms, it’s not too late to do so because you’ve still got 1 WEEK to go!
Setting that aside, we’ve been fooling around with cameras throughout the 3 weeks of production, regardless of whether it’s the webcam or my handy dandy DSLR and I would say I’ve become pretty okay with editing videos now
Around the 2nd last day of our N.E.Mation Production journey, we kinda got a little bored and tried to find ways to entertain ourselves :X And it so happened that Dawn and I went a little overboard with the imitation of Channel 8 Chinese dramas, and then poof, LET’S MAKE A PROMOTIONAL VIDEO! (Courtesy of Dawn) I found myself seated at the desktop clicking the button on the software called Animaker while Dawn and Sim Lin maneuvered our little paper figurines on the book-elevated platform behind me, with slacker Yu Shan playing Tetris Battle without a care in the world.
But before we present the all-awesome PROMOTIONAL VIDEO, here’s the stop-motion video we did during the Top 20 animation workshop, just to show you where we obtained our stop-motion skills from
It’s a little bit sadistic right? But admit, it’s so cute :3
Alright, now for the PROMOTIONAL VIDEO! Please enjoy~
I have to admit, it came out a little late. It was meant to be a prelude to our actual N.E.Mation clip, but ah well, what’s done is done. Better late than never right?
And here’s our actual N.E.Mation product!
Well, I’ve hope you enjoyed my attempt at being self-enthusiastic in front of a computer screen, so that’s all for now! See’ya later folks!
omnomnomnom,
Xin Yi from EATYOUUP
P.S: We might upload some of the vlogs we did over the production week because some of them are really funny (or at least we think they are) XD So keep a lookout!
Hello again!
Yup, Dawn here again!
No, we are not gone yet.
Hmm, we have been doing our own stuff after production’s over and all that. So, anyway… THE CLIPS ARE NOW UP!
They are all really pretty and stuff after the after effects and all that. I am pretty proud of our clip since you can still see the watercolour and paper texture. So, I guess our clip stayed true to our medium.
Hmm, we were all impressed with the other clips as well. All the clips were different and they are all awesome!
Remember to enjoy all 10 clips and vote for the best 3 okay! And hopefully we will be one of your three choices. ^^
And if you haven’t, please go ‘like’ our page, click here! Thank you all and see you soon!
Lots of love,
Dawn

I am ending this post now because I am bombarded with homework (Geez, Being a secondary 3 is crazy.)
Rmb, HAPPY NEW YEAR, and enjoy 2012 (:

Jelvetica – Wrap Party
Hello! This is Bianca reporting again, this time about the Wrap Party that was held on the last Friday of production! It was a wonderful experience and I could understand why Daphne was so excited for it (seeing as this is her second year doing NEmation!) and I wasn’t disappointed! The confetti, the dancing and even the cleaning up was fun and I felt that it was really a great way to end the 3 weeks of production, allowing us to let loose and have fun!
Here are some photos I took during the party!:
We actually had trouble opening the children’s bottle of sparkling juice and had to ask Weisong to help us. Thank you!
Rebekah came to celebrate with us too! You can see Daphne pouring drinks for her and Alyssa.
Throwing confetti on an unsuspecting victim
Stocking up on confetti!!!
Here, our SST friends help us cover Rebekah in confetti. TEAMWORK!
An instax of Rebekah, Alyssa and Daphne throwing confetti in the air! (With my horrible aim)

How we show our appreciation to the lovely Jamie for all her help
Instaxes of me and Alyssa going a bit crazy with the confetti

Daphne, Rebekah, Valencia and Jamie getting food after we were doing playing and rolling around in the confetti
Alyssa, Rebekah, Valencia, Jamie and Daphne taking a group photo!
Waiting for the toilet light to go off to commence playing the last few rounds of the toilet game. I have a feeling the light never went off/someone else went in and so we never got to play it…. yet.
(Observe toilet light = on) Daphne and Valencia looking quite cool!
This was the only photo I had of Gina and I really want to thank her for helping us, teaching us how to paint and buying us junk food (and even offering me her hashbrown!) Thank you!!!
Rebekah going a bit wonky with her lights when we were jumping around the “dance floor”
Me, Daphne and Alyssa with J.K.!
Valencia, Me, Alyssa and Daphne
A quick fix to the unglamorous photo they took
Janice and Shiling!
And finally, we get to play the toilet game. (Side note – did you know hand dryers are also activated by flash? Thus I got very freaked out every time I took a photo and the hand dryer came on).

And after all the celebrations we had to finish filming the mosquito scene, then we were done!
I hope you enjoyed the wrap party as much as I did!
Jelvetica – Week Three
Hello! This is Daphne here! I’ve been sent here to report to you on our third, and sadly, final, week of NEmation production. This is a pretty delayed post so pardon me if I miss out any important details.
In the third week, all we had left to do was the last couple of scenes of the cardboard animation and the whole of the bag animation. Now that I think of it, it seems like quite a lot, but actually it wasn’t that much because most of our time during the three weeks was spent on pre-production.
On Monday, we managed to finish the whole of the bag scene because Shiling decided that if we did start on the cardboard animation, we would be distracted by the constant going in and out of people. Monday was the day that parents and teachers of the top 10 teams came and there were really a whole lot of people moving from tent to tent. So being the obedient kids, we listened to Shiling and stayed in the somewhat secluded place and shot our bag scenes. Here are some of the photos.

While Bianca and Alyssa were starting the bag scene, I had to finish painting the medics in our tent. Here are some of the pictures of the uncompleted medics and finally the total defence sign that we had traced and cut out.

There were many other things that happened in the last week. It’s going to become one big blur soon but I’m sure all three of us savoured every moment of it. We managed to finish everything before we left on Friday night so we didn’t have to go back to Nanyang Poly to finish up our clip.
Bianca has the pictures of the wrap party so I’ll let her tell you guys on what happened during the party and all that.
