The faithful day, 15 Feb 2013
Heyo! Frances blogging here.
On the 15th of Feb 2013 was Total Defence day and an important day for all competitors in Nemation 7. All of us in the team including our teacher had a hard time sleeping the night before due to all the excitement and nervousness.

Group picture taken before the ceremony!!
Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Defence was the guest of honor. For his opening speech, he empahsised on the importance of unity among Singaporeans to overcome challenges. He even gave his own personal experiences during his speech.
After the speech, it was the moment all of us have been waiting for. The N.E.mation 7 results. One by one, teams were called onto the stage. Standing infront of my group facing the audience was one of the most nerve recking experiences I’ve encountered.
I was really nervous as I could feel my heart beating and my legs were actually shaking. Right infront of me I could see the team of 40 supporters from Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School, our teachers who came down to support us (Mdm Yong, Mrs Goh and Ms Liauw) , our Principal (Ms. Chew) and our Vice-Principal (Mr. Michael).
The top 7 finalists were annonced first followed by the 2nd runner up and finally the top 2 teams. As the top 7 finalists of N.E.mation 7 were being annonced, Xin Hui who was standing directly behind me started squeezing my hand. (It wasn’t painful at all though. But as the results got closer and closer to the top 3, she started squeezing it tighter and tighter)
Ahmad Ibrahim did not make it to the top 7 finalists but into the top 2 teams in Singapore. We were called to the middle of the stage with Dunman High for one of the most tensed moment of the ceremony.
JK (from Power 98) was the host of the ceremony and played around with the top 2 teams before annoncing the champion team so I decided to have a picture with him
“Please feast your eyes on the screen the answer in my hands, dim the lights video please” said JK.
All eyes were on the screen as we nervously watched for the winning video to be annonced.
WE WON!
It was a dream come true! We were laughing, tearing, clapping and Marcus was stamping his feet due to all the excitment.

Thank you Ms. Chew, Mr. Michael, teachers, fellow friends, supporters and our families who were there for us throughout our NEmation 7 journey. Thank you AI and all those who voted and supported us!
And thank you EVERYONE for making our dreams come true!
You’ll definitely hear from us soon! Updates on the team and our USA trip would be posted. So do keep a look out!
Lots of Love,
We Want To Go To USA (we are going to USA!!)
the NEmation hangover

“the disagreeable physical after effects…”
“…from a distressing experience…”
Haha no we’re just kidding!
It has been a long way, ever since September last year (actually even before that)! First the submission of ideas and workshop, then the Top 100 selection, Top 40 selection, Top 20 selection with our stopmotion, storyboarding and animation workshop, the nerve racking Top 10 selection, the 3 week production period and NOW the videos are out! FINALLY
All the Top 10 teams came back to NYP on the 17 Jan, just a few hours before the videos were “unleashed into the world” anyway it was just right after our CCA for some of us and we were all really tired. But when we heard “So, are you ready to watch the videos?” Everyone perked up and the whole theater started buzzing with excitement. And maybe a bit of the static problem the speakers had. Haha anyway, everyone was cheering after every video, even the ones not done from their school. I think we’re all able to relate since everyone worked really hard to get the videos done.
And of course we’ve got the instructors to thank, especially Mr Alvin who has pretty much been our instructor since day 1 at the workshop held in our school, way before the top 100 selection in September last year. With all the comments and help, we progressively improved by the frames. And when we were going out of our minds like

when we couldn’t possibly finish, he helped all the way until we drew the last line
And we’ve got Mr K! Our teacher in charge alongside Yarney Barney and ShiNy Girls, who stuck by all the way whenever he could, giving us encouragement. And now he’s doing lots to engage the school in helping us to vote. And we’ve got other teachers to thank too especially Mr Ng, Ms Tey and Mrs Gurung for coming down as well to support us all despite their busy schedule, Mr Razali for not only making posters but also standing in with Mr James when Mr K wasn’t around and Mr Lau for handling the admin stuff.
Well that’s a lot of people to thank XD but we really wouldn’t have done it without them. And we have our principal and vice principals and teachers and parents and of course our 姐妹们/sisters from both the primary and secondary side and our 大姐姐们 who have already graduated and our alumni who have been and are still supporting us. There’s really a lot of people to thank! And Im sure ShiNy Girls and Yarney Barney has lots to say too!
Well please do continue to support team SN!

THANKS! We appreciate it!
(hmm we really do need a group photo…)
ScHoOL + Radio Interview!! :)
Before the voting period started the group was preoccupied with lots of activities ranging from secondary one orientation to school work and CCA. Here, we would like to share with you some of the things we do when we are not animating.
Secondary 1 Orientation
Marcus and Frances are the two student councillors in the group. And with the new batch of Sec 1 in AISS, they were actively involved in the orientation. Since the first week of school they have been staying back until 6-7pm entertaining and ensuring that the sec 1s familiarise themselves with the school through various activities. It was tiring but fun.
Warning: The juniors are crazier than any of us sooo beware.

With streaming results and the splitting of classes, Kar Yan was separated from the rest group. boo hoo hoo :’( Our classrooms are just next to each other though so yeah she shouldn’t miss the rest of us too much.
RAdio INTERVIEW
Besides Marcus, it was our FRIST time getting interview on RADIO!!! We rushed there immediately after school and drafted our presentation. (it wasn’t too hard thinking of what to say as the DJs scripted our presentation and we made some adjustments
) In the recording room, the space was so sound proof that we though we couldn’t be heard outside and started joking and laughing around. Our lines were a funny (in our point of view) so we had fun encouraging each other. It was funny until we found out that we could be heard loud and clear in the control room. IT WAS EMBARRASSING as there were other groups there and they were laughing at us.

Look out for our radio interview which could be played anytime around 2-5pm at POWER 98fm. You can now view our video by pressing the link here –> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCEVz7Cqo4E

Productions has started! Anyway… That was long ago…
Hey! It has been quite a few days since we uploaded a blog filled with photos! That’s why we’re back, even though these few days of school was and is totally packed with Co-Curricular Activities and welcoming our new juniors! I suddenly feel old…
Never mind, at least we have juniors to teach our skills to
Hmmm… There are really a lot of things to talk on about our first week of production
Here’s a photo to start off the ten teams of N.E.Mation 7!

And our lovely instructors who guided us through the whole competition!

Last but not least, our dearest classmates and friends

Thanks so much for your support
We appreciate it greatly!
Love you girls<3
Yeah! What a start off! Okay, back to our production, we were really excited to start our productions. nervous to meet our strong competitors too :/ They actually turned out much more friendly than us
Really embarrassed now…
Firstly, Ms KC introduced us to our idea to refresh our mind and taught us the tools and keyboard shortcuts first.
Note taking time!

We were indeed attentive listeners, trying to grab hold of everything Ms KC said.
Then, we did a test video, assigned by out instructor in-charge, Ms KC. Supporting our group and 5 other groups was Ms Serene
It didn’t work out well the first time and we had to re-do it. We admit to complaining but our second work was much more presentable compared to our first work and our hard work did pay off

Hey shy Amberly!

Us working diligently to impress our instructor

Winnie’s innovative jumping orange
Hehe… Good work mate!

Amberly and her proud work
Finally finished them and ready to present it to Ms KC
It was indeed tough but enjoyable and loads of laughter were reverberating through our tent, us laughing at each other’s work (no sarcasm meant)

Last but not least, leaving you with 3/4 of our group photo
Tianqi had CCA on the first half day of our production, so unfortunately she wasn’t in all these photos
That’s all for this blog! It’s really long…Second part of our first day in production coming up in another blog! Hope that you will vote for us and before that, like us on Facebook if you haven’t! Thanks a lot <3
To our supporters, thanks a lot for your support these weeks. Hope that you will be pleased with our video once it comes out with all the support you have given us! ShiNyGirls forever! <3
Lots of love,
the four of us in ShiNyGirls
Wrap Up Party: It’s OVER :’(
Today was a very memorable ending to our production period. The day went on with the same old stuff needing to be done. But we had finished all our work by 2pm. So this is what we did…

but that all was put on hold when the clock struck 6 (orrrr maybe a later than that). Also, many of the NEmation alumni were present so that was pretty cool too. We all gathered in the centre of the lounge. We were forced to sit within a yellow box marked by yellow duct tape with balloons all around us.

Soon after the speech by Mr El, we were handed colourful and hazardous-looking party poppers. (haha that phrase reminded me of frogs xD)
The following is a picture of YB’s leader, Rachael, huddled in a corner because she was afraid of what was to come.
So we all gathered around, and got into position…
Then BOOOOOOOM, all the poppers were popped!
Soon after the bottles of champagne (which actually really was sparkling juice) were popped, and we all got cups of that.
Since many of them were many different colours, we all started mixing those ‘spirits’ like bar-tending pros

Here are the few of the concoctions we created:

We ate our dinner, which was delicious by the way, and then the games began. We played games like tying balloons to our ankles and then trying to pop other people’s balloons, Hello Henry and Scissors Paper Stone (with a huuuuge twist). Altogether it was really fun!
Ms Shi Ling gave us all cute little reindeer hairbands

Soon enough, the lights went out and this unleashed SOME people’s party-animal sides. It was really funny, really.
TIME FOR SOME CANDID SHOTS!

It’s been a wonderful experience, really. So many new bonds, so many new people, and so many new and precious memories. After we cleaned up the mess we created, we were all a little reluctant to leave the place that we called home for the last three weeks. It took quite a bit of courage to walk out of those glass doors. HAHAHA , just being dramatic here. But it is true, we were very sad that the three weeks had flown by so quickly. Enough of this emotional talk!
Til’ next time!

Wassap With Holidays
Hi There!
Now that the production stage of the N.E.mation competition has ended, you may wonder what interesting things we may be up to. With only 1 week left of our holidays, we are doing EVERYTHING we can to savage it.
Xin Hui
Xin Hui is our school’s netball captain and with the approaching North Zone competition, she regularly goes back to school for trainings (and she doesn’t mind.) She has also started baking cookies and brownies which are just some of the delicacies she’s trying.
Kar Yan
Kar Yan celebrated her birthday on the 16th of December (Happy Belated Birthday Kar Yan!) She would be spending Christmas with her family and relatives in Malaysia. (Lucky girl, she gets to travel)
MARCUS
Marcus does a lot of traveling during his holidays. Due to N.E.mation he actually had to cancel 2 holiday plans. He recently came back from 2 night stay on board an Italian Cruise. Marcus being very self cautious of his weight kept on saying that he grew fatter and gained 12kg (though I think he gained only 4). As time passes by he’ll lose weight.

Frances
Well Frances would be staying in Singapore for the rest of the holidays but as a student councillor she has been busy with school preparations for the upcoming batch of sec 1s next year. (Like Xin Hui she has been going back to school quite often as well) She is also actively involved in her CCA (which is NPCC) activities in preparation for next year’s CCA open house.
Do look out for our upcoming video journal of our ENTIRE N.E.mation journey, Sleeping bag series (taken during our N.E.mation period) and our ANIMATION CLIP!!!
Stay tuned for more updates. AND VOTE FOR US!!
Lots of Love

N.E.mation! 7 – Wrap Party
Where there is a beginning, there must be an end and if you did not manage to read the first two parts of our 3 part coverage of N.E.mation! 7 production period, you can read them here and here.
In this third and concluding post, we will find out what the Top 10 Teams were doing on the very last day of the 3 weeks production period.
—
Last Minute Touch Up
For most part of the day, there wasn’t much difference from the past 3 weeks. Most of the teams were still either working hard to catch up with their schedules or making last minute touch ups to their animation.
Of course, some teams are still as crazy as ever, especially when the going gets tough! See if you can spot them in the following photos.
—
Before The Party
As with all previous N.E.mation! productions, Wrap Party happens on the last day of the 3 weeks production period at 6PM.
It involves a lot of fun and laughter, cheers and pops, food and drink and lots of games and crazy dancing.
But it doesn’t just happen by itself, it takes planning too and that’s what the instructors were scheming all afternoon.
Planning, Preparations and Briefings before the fun begins.
When the clock strikes 6PM, it’s time to assemble the Top 10 Teams and distribute the balloons, non-alcoholic “Champagnes” and party poppers!
—
It’s Party Time
Then it’s time to start the party, the N.E.mation! style Wrap Party and it always starts with a huge POP!
Or should I say a lot of small, big and huge POPs by everyone … the teams, instructors, student helpers, alumnus and whoever happens to be around too!
Followed by more pops from non-alcoholic “Champagnes”, Cheers and bottoms-up all around to celebrate the end of production.
—
Game On … Party Style
It’s then followed by food (but since you won’t be eating, we’ll skip that so you won’t be hungry) and games!
As with all games, some will inevitably be a little “unlucky” and receive some forfeit!
See how many forfeiters we got that night? Oh and that last picture down there is a mass forfeit where the forfeiters had to do a mass dance.
—
Lights Out
Then the real fun begins when the lights went out!
The N.E.mation! production studio turns into a partyzone!
—
We’re Done and It’s A Wrap!
After 3 weeks of grueling hard work by 10 teams of 40 students and the guidance of 7 instructors plus one hard night of partying … we have come to the end of the production period.
Now all animations clips that were created will go into post production to create those final clips that vie for the one coveted opportunity to visit the USA during the voting period!
So mark down 18 Jan 2013 on your calendar as that’s the date voting starts for N.E.mation! 7.
Remember to follow us on our Facebook for more updates on the voting period and how to vote. Or drop by the blog to see what the teams have to share! Of course, do remember to to send your love to the teams you support by ‘LIKING’ them on our Facebook App!
Week Three: Busy Barnians
Sup guys!
Sooo for the third and final week for the production of our video, we were too busy to update our blog everyday :c (sorry bout that!) This was because we had to spend all our time on pushing to complete our video on time. But you’d be glad to know that soon enough, as the week progressed, we caught up and we managed to do the rest of our animation at a comfortable pace. :B
Since our memories aren’t that fresh anymore, here are some snippets (whatever we can recall :B) of what happened during that week:

Our ambassador Karen (her blog: www.renzze.com) came along and dropped us this box of cuuuuute cupcakes as encouragement for our last lap. Rachael took the giraffe, Teresa got the cow, Sophia got the Snail and Delia got the fish.
It was really sweet and gave us all uncontrollable sugar rushes!

Somehow, one of our flowers from our ‘aquarium’ ended up in a cup of water. And since the zig markers that we used to colour the flower in weren’t waterproof, eheheheh, this is what happened:

And guess what?! Sophia accidentally drank from it… TWICE! So fingers crossed that that marker’s ink isn’t poisonous.
On one of the days, we took a short little break to take a few photos, for the memories. Here they are:

YB face with our instructor, Ms Jade :3

Jumpshot (unglamunglamunglam)

eheheheh… failed shot

Ahahaha I don’t know why this cracks me up more than it should. :B
Watch out for our video coming sooooooon!

Ho Ho Ho! Happy Holidays:D
Hmmm… how does an early christmas present sound to you?
Aha! Not much of a gift but here’s a thing from us that will send some of you cracking up! Remember the ‘:B’ face (aka the Yarney Barney face)? We have a total of 55 faces now.
However, don’t you think seeing 55 YB faces all at once is a little too much to take in? So we have decided to split them up just to prevent anyone from being overwhelmed. :B
For today (although we’ve already posted some of them before), we will be posting the Faces from Team Yarney Barney. We’ll also work on getting more of these quirky shots!
